Why this website? 

I need to put my stuff somewhere.

Newspaper-style writing feels natural to me. My first job was as a newspaper reporter, at the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. There was always a quick deadline at the paper.  Get the story, bang it together, and get it ready for the noon deadline.  Speed mattered.  So my style is speed, off-the-cuff.  Just grab the inspiration of the moment.  Get an idea and riff on it.  That's what comes naturally to me.

I have worked for three newsapapers, before and after practising law.  But newspapers are in crisis.  They don't just carry a humour columnist willy nilly.    I am proud to say that, for a while, I wrote a weekly humour column for the Clearwater Times in Clearwater, BC, and got paid for the privilege. Just don't ask how much. 

So that's why I am striking out on my own. Let's just see what comes of this.
